US Imports of pepper down up by 2% in 2009

(IPC Jakarta) Total import of pepper into the US during January – December 2009, has increased by 2%, compared to the same period of 2008. In 2009, the United States imported a total of 65,855 tons of pepper, consisting of 49,148 tons of whole black, 6,289 tons of whole white and 10,418tons of ground pepper. This is an increase of 1,066 tons, when compared to the 64,789 tons imported during 2008.
